Jean Giraud, better known as Moebius. He created what is probably the best looking comic of all time The Incal with Jodorowsky, which influenced the entire sci-fi genre as we know it. Moebius had many of his comics published in Metal Hurlant, or as it became known in the US, Heavy Metal. His linework and style is unmatched to this day.
